How to Activate Your US SIM Card Yourself: A Step-by-Step Guide
After your US physical SIM card is paid for, there are two ways to activate it: activate it yourself on this site (recommended — most of the paperwork is pre-filled for you), or ask customer service to activate it from the back office (great if you are short on time or hit a problem). Both lead to exactly the same result: your phone number is assigned to the physical card you received.
1. Before you start
Make sure the card has arrived: open the package and take out the SIM card board (the large plastic card). The 19–20 digit number printed on it is the ICCID — you will need to match it against the page later.
Prepare an unlocked phone (iPhone or Android both work) with internet access (Wi-Fi is fine) so you can submit the activation form.
Have your name and a contact email ready; a phone number is optional and only used if customer service needs to reach you.
2. Self-activation steps
Step 1: Sign in to your Mop Mobile account (the email you ordered with) and open My Orders.
Step 2: Find the physical SIM order and click the Activate button. The button appears once the order status is Shipped / Awaiting Activation.
Step 3: Verify the pre-filled details. The activation page automatically fills in the ICCID, the Activation Code and a US address (required for carrier registration and E911 compliance) — you don't need to type any of them. Carefully check that the ICCID printed on the card board exactly matches the page, then tick the first confirmation box.
Step 4: Fill in your name and contact email (phone optional), pick your phone model, optionally enable Wi-Fi Calling, then tick the second confirmation box (once activated, the number is bound to this physical card and the order is no longer eligible for no-reason refunds).
Step 5: Submit. The system usually provisions the number automatically within minutes; otherwise it goes to our operations queue. Once done, your US number appears automatically in My Orders and on the order detail page.
3. If activation fails
Activation failures are usually caused by US address validation: click Reassign Address to get a new one, then submit again. If it keeps failing or nothing happens for a long time, contact customer service and we will activate it for you manually.
4. After activation
Once the number is assigned, insert the SIM into your phone (you may need a SIM ejector tool), wait for signal and you are good to go. If there is no signal for a long time, restart the phone first; if it still doesn't work, contact customer service.
5. FAQ
Why do I need a US address? — It's an FCC/E911 compliance requirement: every activation must be registered with a US address. The system assigns one from our address library automatically; if you have concerns, you can reassign it with one click on the activation page.
Can customer service activate it for me? — Yes. Just give them your order number; the result is identical to self-activation. You can also ask them to expedite the queue.
How long does activation take? — Automatic provisioning usually finishes within minutes; queued orders are handled by our operations team as soon as possible, and the number appears in My Orders with a notification once done.
Can I refund before activation? — Unactivated orders follow the standard after-sales policy. Activated orders have the number bound to the physical card and are not eligible for no-reason refunds — the activation page shows a clear confirmation before you submit.
